« My Garden House is made of all kinds of odds and ends jumbled up in a different place from where you would normally find them. Still, they speak a recognizable language. They’re just in a different combination from what you’d usually see, so a new world is created consisting of things we recognize. »

Furniture & Graphic
Designer 🔧

From the end of my studies I was a Furniture designer and a freelance UI designer.

When I was a furniture designer, I enjoyed working on materials, drawing or redefining the functions of an object, understanding the production…
I’ve learned to use or apply what exists and give it a personal touch. To change the perspective of things with a little twist. To make connections that lead to new insights.
And more importantly I understood through design processes that every problem has its solutions, you only have to look at it and ask the right questions.

But I needed a change.

My day-to-day job was to be confronted with user research without really acknowledge it. Keeping an eye on how my coworkers, technicians struggled with the displays I had to design. How to change a touchscreen effectively when you only have a rear door access, how to transport the displays, how to assemble them on-site … I had the user experience in mind during the design process.

This leads me to rethink my entire creative process.

Until then I expressed my idea through objects, but if « USING is more important than POSSESSING », because possessions weigh you down and make you lose mobility, it’s clear that I needed to focus more on the experience than objects.

My path through web design was less academical

I started my ui designer/webdesigner career as an autodidact.
I taught myself how to code while working as a furniture designer in an event company.
I don’t really like the coding part of that career but I’m very proud of the satisfaction it gave to my clients. And clearly there was something to dig here.
Developing my skills as a UI designer gave me new insights into how people interact with services and displays.
This made me want to learn about the UX in the process.

DIGITAL CREATIVE DESIGNER [UX Researcher & UI designer] 👋

Learning UX 📖

My real passion is to get to the heart of problems and find solutions that can change people’s lives.

It makes me happy to think that I can use every day my ability to create deep connections with others through empathic sensitivity.
And that’s where the magic appears, with UX.

After completing several UX courses at the Interaction Design Foundation, I discovered a new way to use my knowledge. How to take distance from the product and from my assumptions. I understood that if you observe people, what they can do, what they want, what they need, where they come from, you can value them really without judging them.

With UX, you have to analyze where the qualities of a product are and transform it. What makes a user experience more intuitive, more accessible, more valuable? If something is not in the right place or look sloppy, people won’t understand its purpose. I was always convinced that everything had value as if I could see beauty where others tend to see just regular things.

UX is about recognizing that value and transform it into something that could be useful.

UX DESIGN 🔍

– Applying UX design & Design Thinking in Agile environment.
I help to translate business and user needs into actionable user experience strategy.

The choice of the best research practice always depends on the project.
But it is always about connecting insights to create opportunities for product innovation.

In the research field, I look into highlighting the experience of the user as empathetically and honestly as possible. Understanding the complete context of use and how the relationship between the user and the product happen.

– Stakeholder’s interview to align research with business goals
– 1:1 interviews in comfortable places
– Benchmarking, or how users have other products, processes in conjunction with yours
– Contextual investigation
– Personas
– Usability testing
– Journey mapping & Scenarios
– Feedback studies
– A/B testing
– Surveys
– Low fidelity wireframing
– Writing micro-copy

UI DESIGN 📎

– Design is about creating good communication tools.

To be known, it helps to have a good design.
Nowadays it is not easy to stand out with only a good product or perfect features. Companies and start-ups that invest in design are more likely to create a strong identity and to be recognized.
I see UI design as fully part of my UX processes.

High fidelity wireframes help me emphasize product features.

My curiosity helps me understand what makes people tick. I try to convert my ideas into design solutions using color codes, typography, iconography creating a visual language.

I believe we can make better things together.
